This week, we are excited to highlight the first four teachers who will welcome the very first students to Gateway to Innovation when doors open in January 2027!
Our first spotlight is Alicia Childers, RN, BSN.
Alicia grew up in Powdersville, South Carolina, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina. With 15 years of nursing experience—primarily in pediatrics—and currently serving as a school nurse for SDPC, Alicia brings a deep passion for student care and learning.
She lives in Dacusville with her husband and two children and enjoys reading, singing at church, spending time with family, and trips to the beach.
Alicia is most excited about helping students discover their passion for healthcare careers and guiding them along meaningful pathways toward their future goals. We are thrilled to have her as part of the G2i team!

Masonry work is actively underway, bringing the vision for G2i to life one step at a time. We’re excited to see this future-focused campus take shape and look forward to sharing more updates soon.
G2i opens in January 2027, and we’re building a fun and innovative space where students can explore new ideas, solve real-world problems, and grow their skills in exciting and meaningful ways.

Big things are coming to Pickens County!
Gateway to Innovation (G2i) is set to open in January 2027 at the former Pickens Middle School campus, introducing a bold new vision for hands-on learning, career exploration, and real-world skills for students in grades 3–12.
From future-focused CTE pathways to industry partnerships and on-site childcare for SDPC families, G2i is designed to support students, strengthen our workforce, and prepare Pickens County for the future.
As we prepare to open G2i in January 2027, we are excited to announce the first round of instructional positions for our new, future-focused campus. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the culture, programs, and learning experiences from the very beginning.
